I’ll cut to the chase and let you know that audio production is my life. I live, breathe, eat and sleep music.Skyko
Skylab Sound is the hub for all things audio at Strad Films. I (Skyko) incorporate the massive amount of plugins and sound libraries I’ve accumulated over the years to enhance films in post production by way of music, sound design and dialogue editing. I make an concentrated effort to keep up with the latest, greatest & coolest new sounds and effects to use in our own productions as well as those of our clients.
Another facet of Skylab is location sound recording/mixing. Check my IMDb page as well as my production sound resume where you will find many well known brands such as Disney, Toyota and Native Footwear.
My earliest memory of recording was back in 1975 when I was ten. I took it upon myself to unscrew and completely dismantle the family telephone, reconnected the wires for the headset to my cassette recorder. It surely worked but I don’t believe it ended happily when my parents found out I was secretly recording conversations and prank calls.
In 1986 I began working as a runner at the famous Cherokee Recording in Hollywood and soon moved up ranks to become an assistant engineer and finally engineer. At Cherokee I worked along side many of the iconic engineers of the 80’s and 90’s such as Robert John “Mutt” Lange, Bernard Edwards, Josh Abby & Robert Brookins among others. (In his autobiography, Beatles producer George Martin dubbed Cherokee Studios the best studio in America).
I was one of the first engineers in Los Angeles to adopt the ADAT technology and ran my first 24 track studio in 1992 located on Hollywood Blvd. I’ve been at this “audio thing” for awhile now but I’m still learning new tricks every day!
